BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today said that the intensified crackdown against drugs shall continue across Budgam.
He said this while chairing the 49th District-Level NCORD meeting at the Conference Hall, Budgam, along with SSP Budgam Hariprasad KK.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed ongoing anti-drug measures, rehabilitation efforts, and awareness activities in the district. He appreciated coordinated efforts under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan over the last 100 days and progress made to curb the menace in the District.
Underscoring need for sustained and intensified anti-drug drive with strong IEC campaigns, the Deputy Commissioner instructed for maintaining strict vigil around educational institutions, and regular inspections to protect youth falling prey to handlers.
He stressed 100 percent outreach for affected individuals, ensuring their timely treatment, counselling, and rehabilitation.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed intensified action against illegal cultivation of cannabis, poppy, and other drugs, and removal of such crops from all areas. Instructions were given for 100 percent CCTV coverage and Computerised Billing Systems in all chemist shops, with strict monitoring and action against violations.
The DC underscored need for close inter-departmental coordination to identify and destroy illicit crops.
He further instructed that the Addiction Treatment Facility at District Hospital Budgam remain fully functional 24×7 and called for strengthening the Drug De-Addiction Centre for better treatment and follow-up care.
SSP Budgam emphasized stronger coordination among departments and intensified action against drug peddlers and traffickers.
Among others, the meeting was attended by SDM Khansahib, DSWO, officers from Health, Education, Excise, Police and other departments.
