BANDIPORA: The Department of Agriculture Kashmir today organized a District-Level Workshop-cum-Exhibition under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) at Sumbal, Bandipora, with the objective of creating awareness among farmers about the various schemes and interventions being implemented under the mission to promote sustainable horticulture and agricultural development.
The workshop-cum-exhibition was inaugurated by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sumbal, who appreciated the Department of Agriculture for organizing the programme and providing farmers with a platform to learn about modern agricultural and horticultural practices, advanced technologies, and government support available under MIDH. He emphasized the importance of adopting scientific farming methods and making optimum use of government initiatives to enhance productivity and improve farmers’ incomes.
Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), Kashmir, highlighted the significance of MIDH in strengthening the horticulture sector through quality planting material, protected cultivation, mechanization, post-harvest management, and capacity-building initiatives. He urged farmers to actively avail themselves of the benefits offered under the mission and adopt innovative technologies to achieve sustainable agricultural growth.
The Chief Agriculture Officer, Bandipora, welcomed the participants and reiterated the department’s commitment to extending technical guidance and institutional support to farmers for improving productivity and ensuring the successful implementation of various developmental programmes.
The programme was attended by the Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), Kashmir, Chief Agriculture Officer, Bandipora, along with officers of the Agriculture Department, field functionaries, progressive farmers, and other stakeholders.
