UDHAMPUR: The 3rd National Lok Adalat 2026 was held today in District Udhampur under the chairpersonship of Principal District and Sessions Judge/Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kalpana Revo and Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Sumati Sharma.
The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the DLSA Chairperson Kalpana Revo and Additional District and Sessions Judge Yash Paul Sharma by lighting the traditional lamp in the presence of judicial officers.
The National Lok Adalat was organized to promote the settlement of disputes through conciliation and mediation, deliver speedy justice and reduce the pendency of cases. Six (06) benches, comprising judicial officers and panel lawyers, were constituted across District Udhampur. These benches worked diligently to resolve disputes amicably.
The National Lok Adalat appreciation certificates were also distributed among trained mediators of the District in recognition of their valuable contribution, dedicated efforts and active role in facilitating the amicable settlement of disputes through mediation and conciliation. Their commitment to promoting alternative dispute resolution and assisting litigants in achieving mutually acceptable settlements was appreciated.
The Lok Adalat settled 503 out of 987 cases, involving a total settlement amount of ₹ 38711174/-. The cases included civil, criminal, MACT, revenue, matrimonial, family dispute and cheque-bounce matters, thereby providing substantial relief to litigants.
Similar National Lok Adalat sessions were also held by the Tehsil Legal Services Committees of Ramnagar, Majalta and Chenani extending the benefits of speedy and accessible justice to various parts of the district.
