SHIMLA: Renowned wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer Dalip Singh Rana, popularly known as ‘The Great Khali,’ called on Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta at Lok Bhavan, Shimla, during a courtesy visit on Saturday.
Welcoming Rana, the Governor appreciated his journey from Himachal Pradesh to the international wrestling arena and said his achievements had brought recognition to the state and India globally.
Gupta said Rana’s journey had inspired young people to pursue their aspirations with determination, discipline and hard work. He also congratulated the wrestling icon on his achievements and extended his best wishes for his continued efforts in the field of sports and youth development.
During the interaction, the Governor and Rana discussed issues related to sports, youth empowerment and the promotion of sporting talent in Himachal Pradesh.
Rana shared experiences from his professional wrestling career and spoke about his efforts to encourage sports participation among the younger generation.
The Governor emphasised the need to provide young athletes with greater opportunities, proper guidance and suitable platforms to showcase their abilities across different sporting disciplines.
He said Himachal Pradesh has significant sporting potential, particularly because of the talent and enthusiasm among its youth, and stressed the importance of creating opportunities for athletes from the state to compete at national and international levels.
The meeting concluded with the Governor conveying his best wishes to Rana for his future initiatives aimed at promoting sports and encouraging young talent.
