KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Chief Executive Officer Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Monday felicitated sportspersons of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Complex for their outstanding performances in various disciplines and for bringing laurels to the Shrine Board.
The felicitation ceremony recognised athletes who performed commendably at the 24th J&K UT Athletics Championships, held at the Athletics Track of the University of Jammu.
The championship was organised by the J&K Amateur Athletics Association under the aegis of the Athletics Federation of India and sponsored by the J&K Sports Council. More than 800 athletes from across the Union Territory participated in different age categories.
On the occasion, the CEO also felicitated the football team of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Complex for emerging victorious in a match against the team of Khelo India Centre, Udhampur, organised to mark National Sports Day. The winning side was presented with a trophy.
Congratulating the athletes, Vaishya appreciated their dedication, discipline and hard work, saying their achievements reflected the growing sporting culture being promoted at the Sports Complex.
He encouraged the sportspersons to continue striving for excellence and bring further laurels to the Shrine Board and Jammu and Kashmir at national and international levels.
The CEO also congratulated Danish Sharma, Judo Coach at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Complex, for earning the prestigious High-Level Technical Course for Coaches, organised jointly by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Judo Federation (IJF).
Vaishya described the achievement as a significant recognition of the coach’s professional competence and commitment towards nurturing young sporting talent.
The Shrine Board, under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has been promoting sports and developing the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Complex as a Centre of Excellence with modern infrastructure and training facilities aimed at preparing young sportspersons for national and international competitions.
Among those present at the ceremony were Alok Kumar Maurya, Additional CEO; Satish Kumar Sharma, Joint CEO; Dhruv Gupta, Assistant CEO; coaches, sportspersons and other Shrine Board officials.
