JAMMU: The MIER College of Education (Autonomous) today organised its Annual Prize Distribution Programme with enthusiasm and grace at the B.C. Road campus, celebrating academic and co-curricular excellence.
Javed Ahmed Rana, Minister of Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs Department, J&K, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson of MIER, attended as the Guest of Honour.
The event was attended by Director & Principal Prof. Adit Gupta, Joint Director Rupa Gupta, Controller of Examinations Prof. Mool Raj, Prof. Nishta Rana (Head, SoE), Dr. Monika Bajaj (Head, SSSH), deputy heads, faculty members, IQAC team and student achievers from the School of Education and the School of Social Sciences.
Welcoming the gathering, Prof. Adit Gupta stressed the significance of acknowledging student achievements to foster holistic development. He outlined the diverse award categories covering academics, co-curricular activities, research and social service. Introducing the Chief Guest, he highlighted Rana’s contributions to sustainable development, water resource management, environmental conservation and tribal welfare.
The programme featured the College Tarana, followed by the presentation of awards in multiple categories including Academic Achievement, Most Regular Student, Budding Researcher, Gender Champions, Best NSS Volunteer, Best Community Campaigner, Co-curricular Excellence, Eco-Warriors, Best Sporting Excellence and Student of the Year. Five faculty conveners were also felicitated with Awards of Appreciation.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Javed Rana congratulated the awardees and appreciated the college’s focus on innovation, technology and holistic growth. He lauded the legacy of Model Academy (est. 1936) and MIER College (est. 1981) in promoting quality education and encouraged students to continue striving, innovating and contributing to society. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest by Dr. Renu Gupta as a token of gratitude.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Palvi Mangotra, who, along with Dr. Komal Sharma, coordinated the programme. The ceremony wrapped up with a group photograph of the achievers.
