SRINAGAR: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday urged US Ambassador Sergio Gor to review and withdraw the highest-level travel advisory issued by his country against visiting Kashmir.
In a post on X, she said thousands of families in Kashmir depend on tourism for their livelihood and a travel advisory was not merely a warning but a “wall between Kashmir and the world”.
Gor arrived in Srinagar earlier in the day for a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
“The least the US Ambassador Sergio Gor @USAmbIndia can do is review and withdraw the highest level travel advisory against visiting Kashmir,” Mufti said.
The former chief minister said a travel advisory was more than a warning for Kashmir, where thousands of families depend on tourism.
“It is a wall between Kashmir and the world. Lifting it would send a powerful message of confidence, help bring back international tourists and give much-needed relief to countless families whose livelihoods depend on tourism,” she said.
