RAMBAN: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan, market checking drives have been intensified across the district to ensure fair pricing, quality standards and compliance with trade regulations.
In Ramban town, an enforcement team led by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class conducted thorough inspections, imposing fines on violators. The Legal Metrology Department also issued four challans for various violations.
Similarly, in Batote, Gool and other market areas, enforcement teams carried out inspections, imposed fines on defaulters and sensitised the public about approved price lists to ensure uniformity in rates. As a preventive measure against the sale of substandard food items during the festive rush, teams inspected stocks of hoteliers and food outlets. Special focus was laid on frozen food storage and expiry dates of perishable goods to safeguard public health.
Shopkeepers and traders were strictly instructed to maintain quality standards, display valid rate lists and avoid overcharging. Teams also destroyed rotten vegetables and other food items on the spot.
The District Administration has urged the public to report any unfair trade practices for prompt action, reiterating its commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring transparency in market operations during the festive season.
