JAMMU: A wave of shock and panic swept through the Chatha Farm area late Tuesday night after a local man was found brutally murdered.
The deceased has been identified as Balvir Singh, son of Surjeet Singh and a resident of the locality. He was discovered lying in a pool of blood by passers-by, bearing grievous injuries.
According to police sources, the victim’s throat had been slit with a sharp-edged weapon by an unidentified assailant.
On receiving information, a police team from Satwari Police Station rushed to the spot and shifted the critically injured man to Government Medical College Jammu. However, doctors declared him “brought dead” on arrival.
Confirming the incident, SP South Ajay Sharma said that a case has been registered under FIR No. 66/2026 under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (murder) at Satwari Police Station.
Forensic teams have examined the crime scene and collected vital evidence. Police are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and questioning local residents to establish the motive and identify the assailant.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
