SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police has dismantled an interstate terror module linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, arresting five individuals, including a key operative who had been on the run for 16 years, officials said on Tuesday.
The arrested accused include Abdullah alias Abu Hureira, a long-absconding terrorist, and another Pakistani operative, Usman alias Khubaib. The operation was carried out jointly by J&K Police and central agencies.
According to officials, raids were conducted at 19 locations across Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Haryana, leading to the recovery of incriminating material and exposing a well-organized network providing logistical and financial support to terrorists.
Among those arrested are three residents of Srinagar — Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid Bhat, and Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama — who allegedly provided shelter, food, and other support to terrorists.
Investigators revealed that the network helped a foreign terrorist travel abroad using forged documents and identities. The arrested terrorists had infiltrated India around 16 years ago and remained active across multiple districts in the Kashmir Valley.
Officials further said the module had handled nearly 40 foreign terrorists over the years, most of whom have been neutralized by security forces.
