JAMMU: Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta attended the sacred Samagam of Jagadguru Mahabrahmarshi Shri Kumar Swami Ji in Jammu, highlighting the importance of India’s spiritual and cultural traditions in promoting inner peace, social harmony and national consciousness.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said saints and spiritual leaders play an important role in guiding society and inspiring people to uphold the values of compassion, service, discipline, devotion and universal brotherhood.
He observed that India’s rich civilisational heritage places humanity, service and collective welfare at the centre of its spiritual traditions. Emphasising the responsibility of preserving this legacy, he said the country’s culture and civilisation must be strengthened and passed on to future generations.
Gupta said India was progressing towards the goal of a developed and self-reliant nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 requiring the collective participation of every citizen.
He stressed that economic and technological progress must go hand in hand with the preservation of India’s cultural identity, traditional wisdom and moral values. While embracing modernity, he said, the country must remain firmly rooted in its spiritual and civilisational heritage.
The Governor also expressed concern over attempts to create divisions within society and weaken communal harmony. He called upon citizens to reject hatred, misinformation and divisive tendencies, emphasising that India’s strength lies in its unity in diversity.
He further noted that the teachings of saints and spiritual leaders, centred on love, compassion, service and brotherhood, remain relevant in contemporary society.
During the Samagam, Jagadguru Mahabrahmarshi Shri Kumar Swami Ji conferred the ‘Desh Ratna’ Award on Governor Kavinder Gupta.
Expressing gratitude, Gupta described the honour as both a matter of pride and a reminder of his responsibilities towards society and the nation. He accepted the award with humility and reaffirmed his commitment to public service, social harmony and the larger national interest.
The Governor also appreciated the spiritual and social initiatives undertaken by Jagadguru Mahabrahmarshi Shri Kumar Swami Ji, stating that such efforts contribute to strengthening moral and spiritual values in society.
