SHIMLA: Governor of Himachal Pradesh Kavinder Gupta on Sunday visited Middle Bazaar, Shimla, and participated in the Ganesh Utsav organised by the Siddhi Vinayak Seva Mandal Trust, offering prayers to Lord Ganesha and seeking blessings for the happiness, prosperity and well-being of the people of the state.
The Governor extended his greetings and best wishes to the people of Himachal Pradesh on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and congratulated the organisers for conducting the festival. He said religious and cultural celebrations create a spiritual atmosphere in society and play an important role in connecting the younger generation with the country’s rich Sanatan traditions and values.
Gupta said Lord Ganesha is revered in the Sanatan tradition as Vighnaharta and Mangalkarta, and the practice of worshipping the deity before the beginning of an auspicious occasion reflects the deep spiritual and cultural significance associated with Lord Ganesha. He prayed that the deity remove obstacles from people’s lives and bring happiness and prosperity to every household in Himachal Pradesh.
Emphasising the importance of preserving cultural heritage, the Governor called for collective efforts to carry forward Sanatan culture and traditions. He said religious and cultural events provide an important platform for introducing younger generations to their roots, traditions and values.
Referring to the recently concluded BRICS Summit, Gupta also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy, saying that under his leadership India’s diplomatic outreach had reached new heights, enhancing the country’s global influence and further strengthening relations with nations across the world.
