UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Ananth Dwivedi today conducted an extensive tour of the remote Kulwanta Block and convened a public outreach programme to take stock of local issues and listen to the grievances and developmental aspirations of the people.
The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, district officers, former PRI representatives and a large number of people from the adjoining Panchayats of the Block.
During the interaction, former PRI members and locals projected several demands and issues concerning their respective areas.
They demanded adequate staff in government schools, augmentation of drinking water, land compensation, better mobile connectivity, bus service for students, repair of dilapidated roads, reviving non-functional Anganwadi Centres, establishment of a Veterinary Centre at Chigla Balota, construction of Panchayat Ghar, upgradation of local High School to Higher Secondary School and uninterrupted power supply, among other issues.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that the primary objective of such outreach programmes is to obtain firsthand feedback on grassroots-level issues and strengthen the public service delivery mechanism. He emphasised that these interactions enable the District Administration to better understand the genuine concerns of the people and ensure responsive, transparent and people-centric governance.
Several grievances were redressed on the spot through the intervention of the concerned departments. The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to work with dedication and ensure that genuine public demands are addressed in a time-bound manner.
