PATNA: In a major employment initiative aimed at strengthening Bihar’s healthcare infrastructure and creating job opportunities for the state’s youth, the Health Department is preparing to recruit more than 11,000 personnel across administrative, technical and medical support categories.
State Health Society Executive Director Nawal Kishore Chaudhary said the official recruitment notification is expected to be issued by the last week of November, with preparations for the large-scale hiring exercise nearing completion. A detailed recruitment calendar is also expected to be released shortly.
According to Chaudhary, the department has sought updated information on vacant posts from all 38 districts of Bihar. The data is being collected from district-level health institutions, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Sub-Divisional Hospitals to determine the exact recruitment requirements.
The first phase of recruitment will cover several categories, including Staff Nurses, Laboratory Technicians, managerial positions, Block Health Managers (BHMs), block-level NME personnel and clerical staff. Recruitment against several other vacant positions will be undertaken in the second phase.
Chaudhary said filling more than 11,000 posts in the first phase is expected to bring significant improvements to the state’s healthcare delivery system. Dedicated personnel at block and panchayat levels will strengthen support for doctors and paramedical staff, particularly in rural and remote areas.
The recruitment is also expected to help district and sub-divisional hospitals manage patient loads more effectively by reducing the excessive workload on existing employees. Adequate staffing of nurses and laboratory technicians will facilitate timely diagnostic reports and improve the delivery of healthcare services.
The appointment of Block Health Managers and clerical personnel is expected to improve the implementation of government health schemes and ensure that their benefits reach the public in a more efficient, transparent and timely manner.
Chaudhary further stated that the recruitment calendar has almost been finalised and will be made public after receiving approval from the competent authorities.
The department aims to complete the entire recruitment process, including selection, document verification and issuance of appointment letters, within six to seven months from the date of publication of the official notification.
