MUMBAI: Reliance Industries Limited Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani on Friday outlined the company’s next phase of growth, announcing plans to build advanced manufacturing and export platforms aimed at strengthening the consumer products ecosystem and expanding Reliance’s global footprint.
Addressing shareholders at the 49th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani said the company will introduce two major growth platforms between Reliance Retail Ventures Limited and Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), describing the move as another significant milestone in the group’s growth journey.
“We will add two powerful growth-boosting platforms between Reliance Retail and RCPL. This is another great leap forward,” Mukesh Ambani said.
The first initiative involves the creation of a large-scale manufacturing platform spanning beverages, daily essentials and fresh fruits and vegetables, a segment he described as one of the most unorganised sectors in the country.
“This category is in urgent need of waste reduction, hygiene promotion and higher safety standards. We will modernise by bringing our sourcing, cold-chain and distribution strength to fresh produce. This will give farmers fairer returns, shopkeepers dependable supply and every family fresher food at fairer prices,” he said.
Mukesh Ambani also announced plans to establish a future-ready garment manufacturing ecosystem focused on delivering high-quality apparel at competitive prices. To support the initiative, Reliance has developed supplier partnerships across 21 manufacturing clusters nationwide.
“We have created supplier partnerships in 21 pan-India clusters, where these garments will be manufactured,” he said.
In addition to apparel manufacturing, Reliance plans to expand affordable electronics manufacturing across multiple product categories, including smart eyewear, televisions, smartphones and connected wearable devices.
“We will also do the same for affordable electronics—from smart eyewear to televisions, smartphones and connected wearables—with a continued focus on superior customer service,” Mukesh Ambani said.
The company is also establishing a dedicated exports platform, which Mukesh Ambani described as a natural extension of Reliance’s growing manufacturing capabilities.
“The rapid growth in our consumer brands business in India has given us the confidence to build a strong and scalable global FMCG business. Our export journey reflects the growing strength of our brands, our competitive product portfolio and our ability to serve diverse consumer needs across global markets,” he said.
Highlighting Reliance Retail’s performance, Mukesh Ambani said the company recorded sales and services worth Rs 3,71,085 crore in FY 2025-26, registering a 12.1 per cent year-on-year growth.
Reflecting on the retail business’s growth journey, he noted that Reliance Retail, which began operations two decades ago with its first store in Hyderabad, now operates more than 20,000 stores across the country.
“Within five years, we had crossed 1,000 stores and USD 1 billion in annual sales. Within eight years, we had become India’s largest retailer. And in the fourth quarter of FY26, we crossed 20,000 stores—a scale no retailer in Asia has achieved in such a short time,” Mukesh Ambani said.
The announcements underscore Reliance Industries Limited’s strategy to strengthen domestic manufacturing, expand exports and deepen its presence in consumer-focused businesses while supporting India’s broader goals of self-reliance and economic growth.
