Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday witnessed a special yoga demonstration by Slovak schoolchildren alongside President Peter Pellegrini as the world prepares to celebrate International Yoga Day.
Sharing the experience on social media platform X, Narendra Modi said he was delighted to see young people in Slovakia embracing yoga and highlighted its role in promoting well-being and bringing people together.
“President Pellegrini and I were delighted to witness a special Yoga demonstration by schoolchildren from Slovakia. As the world counts down to International Yoga Day, it is delightful to see the youth embrace Yoga. Also happy to see Yoga continuing to bring people together in the shared pursuit of well-being,” Narendra Modi posted.
During his visit, the Prime Minister also praised an exhibition centred on Varanasi at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava. The exhibition featured works by Slovak artists who had recently visited the ancient Indian city.
“A Banaras connect in Bratislava! At the Presidential Palace in Bratislava yesterday, President Pellegrini and I viewed a fascinating exhibition centred on Varanasi, including works by Slovak artists who had recently visited the city. Art and culture truly have a unique ability to bring people closer. My compliments to all those whose works featured in this exhibition,” Narendra Modi said.
The Prime Minister also held extensive discussions with President Peter Pellegrini on a range of bilateral issues, including manufacturing, transport, innovation, investment, energy and biofuels.
“Today’s talks with President Pellegrini covered diverse subjects such as closer ties in manufacturing, transport, innovation and investment linkages, energy, biofuels and more. There is also immense scope to cooperate in the field of digital technology. We also talked about deepening people-to-people linkages,” Narendra Modi stated.
In a significant diplomatic outcome of the visit, Narendra Modi and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism and comprehensive reforms of global institutions, including the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
According to the India-Slovakia Joint Statement, the two leaders emphasized the need to make multilateral institutions more representative, inclusive, effective and reflective of current geopolitical realities. They also underlined the urgent need for expansion of the UNSC in both permanent and non-permanent categories.
The joint statement further highlighted the commitment of both countries to strengthen cooperation in strategic sectors including defence, cybersecurity, protection of critical infrastructure and connectivity.
Narendra Modi and Robert Fico identified these sectors as key pillars of the growing India-Slovakia partnership and expressed their resolve to deepen collaboration across emerging technologies and security-related domains.
The visit underscored the expanding relationship between India and Slovakia, with both sides focusing on strengthening economic, technological, cultural and strategic ties while promoting closer people-to-people engagement.
