JAMMU: FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Chapter successfully conducted a Makeup Training Workshop under its ongoing “Skill to Scale” initiative, aimed at empowering women at the grassroots level and enhancing livelihood opportunities through skill-based training.
The workshop was designed for 20 women leaders representing various Self-Help Groups (SHGs), all of whom head their respective groups. Structured on a Train-the-Trainer model, the programme focused on equipping participants with practical makeup skills, enabling them to further train other women within their SHGs and multiply the impact of the initiative by creating sustainable income opportunities.
The training session was conducted by FLO JKL members Deepti Gandotra and Iruvanthika Chowdhary, along with professional makeup artist Shina. The trainers shared hands-on techniques and practical insights into makeup artistry as a viable profession, particularly in the wedding and events sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson FICCI FLO JKL Aarti Chowdhary stressed the importance of self-reliance and confidence among women. She encouraged participants to work diligently towards financial independence and establish their own identity. She highlighted that FICCI FLO JKL has consistently worked for the upliftment of women at the grassroots level, and initiatives like Skill to Scale are focused on equipping women with dignified, income-generating skills.
She further added that through this initiative, FLO JKL aims to create meaningful and sustainable livelihood opportunities by training women in practical skills that allow them to support themselves and their families.
During the programme, Aarti Chowdhary was also felicitated by Preeti Sharma, JKAS, Joint RCS (Special) and Principal, Centre for Cooperatives Management, in recognition of her leadership and continued efforts towards women’s empowerment.
Other distinguished members present at the workshop included Varuna Anand, National Initiative Head – Partnerships and Collaborations, and Sona Mehta, Treasurer, FICCI FLO JKL, who extended their support and encouragement to the participants.
