REASI: Under the visionary leadership of Khalil Choudhary, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Reasi) and Pooja Gupta, Secretary DLSA Reasi, the District Legal Services Authority Reasi organised awareness programs on the topic Prohibition of Child Marriage at Legal Aid Clinic Karua, Katra wherein Bhumika Rajput was the resource person and at Bazigar Basti Panassa, Reasi in collaboration with One Stop Centre, Reasi.
During the program, the resource person and PLVs sensitized the general public especially parents and guardians about the ill effects and legal consequences of child marriage, provisions of the Prohibition of child Marriage Act, 2006 and the importance of ensuring education, health and overall development of children. They were also informed about free Legal Aid services available through DLSA Reasi and the role of Legal Services Authorities in safeguarding the rights of women and children.
Another program was organised at Railway Station Reasi on the topic “Drug Awareness & Wellness Navigation” (DAWN) Scheme by PLVs of DLSA Reasi.
The objective of the program was to sensitize the general masses about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the need for prevention and rehabilitation. The participants were encouraged to seek timely, confidential and stigma free assistance through the National Drug De-Addiction Helpline (1933), Tele-MANAS-National Health Assistance and Wellness Support Helpline (14446) reinforcing a rights based and compassionate approach to recovery.
In addition to above, door to door awareness was also conducted by PLVs of DLSA Reasi, TLSC Katra and Mahore regarding various schemes of government and Prohibition of Child Marriage in different areas of district Reasi.
