JAMMU: In a significant step toward promoting women empowerment and local entrepreneurship, Devyani Rana, Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), today launched “Gau Shakti Floor Cleaner” — an eco-friendly, organic cleaning product crafted by the women of Nagrota constituency.
The product, made from natural cow-based ingredients, represents a blend of traditional wisdom and modern enterprise, setting a benchmark for self-reliant rural industries in Jammu & Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering at the launch, Rana described Gau Shakti as more than just a household product. “This initiative is not just about a product — it’s about a movement. We are creating opportunities for women to become self-sufficient, take pride in their work, and actively contribute to the social and economic progress of our constituency,” she said.
She highlighted that the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Vocal for Local” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” campaigns, encouraging communities to build sustainable livelihoods through indigenous innovation and collective effort.
Rana also paid tribute to her late father, Devender Singh Rana, acknowledging his vision of a prosperous, progressive, and self-reliant Nagrota. “My father dreamt of a vibrant Nagrota where every section of society could thrive with dignity and opportunity. Empowering women is the foundation of a strong community. I am committed to carrying forward his legacy,” she said.
The Gau Shakti project, spearheaded by women’s self-help groups (SHGs), aims to provide employment, skill development, and financial independence to rural women. Made using locally sourced cow dung and herbal extracts, the cleaner promotes both cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
Rana also lauded other successful ventures by women of Nagrota, such as ‘Pooja Sathi’ Dhoop Cones, which have recently reached national e-commerce platforms like Amazon, showcasing the growing entrepreneurial spirit among local women.
Following the launch, Rana interacted with local shopkeepers in Nagrota Bazar, discussing issues faced by small businesses and traders. She highlighted recent GST benefits and reforms, emphasizing how these initiatives simplify taxation and provide relief to entrepreneurs and vendors.
The event concluded with enthusiastic participation from local women entrepreneurs, youth leaders, and residents, who hailed the initiative as a symbol of hope, progress, and empowerment for the constituency.
