REASI: In a decisive step against the drug menace, District Police Reasi has taken strong action against the illegal sale of psychotropic substances on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Track.
During routine patrolling, police personnel conducted a random check at a medical shop on the track and recovered 26 loose capsules of Pregabalin and 3 strips of Pregabalin 300. The substances were allegedly being sold illegally to Pithu/Palki operators for illicit profit.
Taking serious cognizance, the matter was formally referred to the Assistant Drugs Controller, Reasi, following which the Drugs Inspector conducted further verification. Based on findings, Rahul Medical Hall, located at Ban Ganga PP Market, SMVD Track, was sealed and its drugs licence suspended till further orders.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria, supervised by SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Vipan Chandran.
SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh reiterated the police’s firm resolve to act tough against drug abuse, particularly in sensitive areas like the SMVD Track. He also appealed to the public, pilgrims, and service providers to cooperate in the fight against drugs by sharing timely information with law enforcement agencies.
