JAMMU: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated the Centre’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.
Chairing a high-level meeting at Raj Bhavan, Jammu, the Home Minister directed all security agencies to remain on high alert and ensure close coordination to eliminate terrorism from the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Director IB, Chief Secretary J&K, DGP J&K, heads of CAPFs, and senior officers, an official spokesperson said.
While taking stock of the overall security scenario, the Home Minister appreciated the efforts of the UT administration and security agencies in ensuring the smooth conduct of the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, during which more than 4 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine in the Himalayas this year.
He also praised the security forces for their role in relief and rescue operations following the recent flash floods in J&K, assuring that the Centre and CAPFs will extend full support in managing natural calamities and disaster response.
