CHNDIGARH: A 22-member Jammu & Kashmir contingent put up a strong performance at the IPT Chandigarh City Open, which brought together more than 150 players from across India, including several leading names from the country’s growing padel circuit.
The J&K contingent fielded 11 teams—nine in the men’s categories and two in the women’s categories—competing across Women’s Beginner, Men’s Beginner, Men’s Intermediate and Men’s Advanced events.
The tournament provided the players with valuable exposure to national-level competition and an opportunity to test themselves against competitors from different parts of the country.
In the Men’s Beginner category, Vivek Sharma and Rahul Gupta advanced to the Top 16, while Ayush Gupta and Rohail Pandohi also secured places in the last 16.
J&K recorded particularly notable results in the Men’s +40 category, with Siddharth Daluja and Aveesh finishing among the Top 4. Muiz Khan and Prabhas Sharma also registered a Top-4 finish, underlining the depth of the J&K contingent.
Spokesperson of the Padel Sports Association of Jammu & Kashmir, Shivang Mahajan, appreciated the efforts of all participating players and said their performances reflected the hard work and dedication put into their preparation.
The association said the Chandigarh tournament marked an important step for the sport in Jammu & Kashmir, giving local players first-hand experience of the standard and intensity of competitive padel being played across the country.
The performances are expected to further encourage the growing padel community in J&K, with players looking to build on their Chandigarh experience and make a stronger impact at upcoming national-level competitions.
