NEW DELHI: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Saturday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed a range of issues concerning the Union Territory, including security, law and order, development and matters related to the ongoing Assembly session.
During the meeting, Sharma apprised the Home Minister of concerns being raised by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and discussed issues requiring continued attention and coordination with the Union Government. He also raised the matter of enhancement of salaries for Special Police Officers (SPOs), stating that the proposal was at an advanced stage and seeking its early resolution.
The discussions also covered strengthening the security framework, accelerating development initiatives, addressing public welfare concerns and ensuring timely resolution of issues affecting people across the Union Territory.
According to Sharma, Shah reiterated the Union Government’s commitment to peace, development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and assured continued support and cooperation in addressing matters concerning the people.
Sharma expressed gratitude to the Union Home Minister for his guidance and support on issues related to security, development and the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
