JAMMU: Continuing its drive to maintain public order and curb the serving and consumption of liquor at public places, Police Station RS Pura has taken action against three persons allegedly involved in such activities, police said.
During the operation, Yaspaul alias Bhola, son of Basakhi Ram and resident of Puro Bhana, RS Pura, was apprehended for allegedly serving liquor at his meat shop.
Two other persons, Amit Kumar, son of Basakhi Ram, resident of Puro Bhana, RS Pura, and Sham Lal, son of Dwarka Nath, resident of Bolari, RS Pura, were apprehended while allegedly consuming liquor at the same premises.
Both Amit Kumar and Sham Lal were medically examined and found to be under the influence of liquor, police said. Liquor bottles were also seized from the spot.
In connection with the incident, FIR No. 160/2026 under Section 50-A of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station RS Pura. Further investigation is underway.
Jammu Police reiterated that strict action would be taken against individuals found violating the law by serving or consuming liquor at public places. The ongoing drive is aimed at ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order and preserving a peaceful environment for citizens.
