JAMMU: Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has restored Train No. 04688/04687 between Budgam and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra with effect from August 29, providing a direct rail link for passengers travelling between the Kashmir Valley and Jammu region.
According to Northern Railway, the train will operate on its regular route from Saturday.
Train No. 04688 Budgam–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra will depart from Budgam at 7.20 a.m. and reach Katra at 1 p.m.
In the return direction, Train No. 04687 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Budgam will leave Katra at 1.45 p.m. and arrive at Budgam at 8 p.m.
Railway officials said restoration of the service has been undertaken keeping in view the convenience of passengers, particularly devotees visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
The service is also expected to benefit students, employees and residents of the Kashmir Valley by strengthening direct rail connectivity with the Jammu region.
Northern Railway said the train would serve as an important link between the Valley and Katra, one of the country’s major pilgrimage destinations.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest train status and timings before commencing their journey through the NTES mobile application, the Indian Railways website or railway helpline number 139.
Northern Railway reiterated its commitment to providing passengers with safe, smooth and comfortable travel.
