REASI: In a major achievement against cybercrime and digital losses, Reasi Police has recovered 206 missing mobile phones and traced ₹33.49 lakh lost in cyber fraud cases during the year 2026, reaffirming its commitment to providing swift assistance to citizens and pilgrims.
The recovery operation was carried out by the Cyber Police Station Reasi, which successfully traced mobile phones belonging to local residents as well as pilgrims visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Shiv Khori Shrine. The recovered devices are being handed over to their rightful owners after completion of the required legal formalities.
Officials said that mobile phones belonging to pilgrims who have already left the district will be sent to them through courier after completing necessary procedures.
In another significant achievement, the Cyber Police Station Reasi has recovered ₹33.49 lakh lost by victims in various cyber fraud cases registered during 2026. Out of the recovered amount, ₹17.36 lakh has already been refunded to victims after obtaining the required court orders. The remaining amount is undergoing the due legal process and will be released to the rightful claimants after completion of formalities.
Reasi Police has urged citizens and pilgrims to report missing mobile phones immediately at the nearest Police Station or Police Post. While filing a report, complainants must provide the IMEI number of the device, which is crucial for tracing lost phones. The IMEI number can be obtained by dialling *#06# on the mobile phone.
Pilgrims who have left the district without reporting the loss can send details of the missing phone along with the IMEI number to [email protected] for necessary action.
Police also advised people to remain cautious while using digital platforms and report cyber fraud incidents immediately by calling the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 or by registering complaints on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
Reasi Police reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime, recovering citizens’ lost money and valuable assets, and ensuring a safe digital environment for residents and millions of pilgrims visiting the district every year.
