BANDIPORA: As part of the observance of World Environment Day 2026, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora organized a series of plantation drives aimed at promoting environmental conservation.
The programme commenced at the New Court Complex, Kaloosa, Bandipora, where a plantation drive was inaugurated by Jeema Bashir, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Bandipora, along with Iqbal Ahmad Aakhoon, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bandipora, Sheikh Baber Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Bandipora, and Amandeep Singh, Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Bandipora.
The event was witnessed by Adv. Sofi Feroz, Administrative Officer, members of the Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC) System, and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). On the occasion, the judicial officers planted saplings within the court complex premises and highlighted the importance of environmental stewardship and collective responsibility towards preserving nature.
Thereafter, a plantation drive was conducted at Chittarnar, Bandipora in collaboration with the Forest Department Bandipora. The drive witnessed active participation from officials of the Forest Department, members of the LADC System, and PLVs, who collectively planted saplings and reaffirmed their commitment towards environmental conservation.
The participants emphasized the need for protecting forests, increasing green cover, and promoting environmental awareness to address the growing challenges of climate change. They also underscored the importance of community participation in safeguarding natural resources and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to continue supporting initiatives aimed at environmental protection, ecological balance, and sustainable development.
