KARGIL: As a precautionary measure, all government and private schools in Kargil, Union Territory of Ladakh, have been closed due to prevailing inclement weather conditions, officials said.
The District Administration has ordered the closure of all schools for a day and urged residents to remain alert and contact the control room in case of emergencies.
Officials said 28 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded in the last 24 hours, disrupting normal life in Kargil.
In an advisory, the Meteorological Department asked people to avoid unnecessary travel.
Meanwhile, police have been making announcements, urging residents not to venture out as the Kargil–Leh Highway remains closed due to the bad weather.
