JAMMU: Prof. (Dr.) Daya Nand Sharma, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu and AIIMS Rewari, addressed the faculty, stating that working at AIIMS is not just a professional role but a matter of immense pride and responsibility.
He said it carries the mandate to create excellence in medical research, education, and patient care.
He noted that the name “AIIMS” inspires confidence and hope in millions of patients across the country, and that this trust must be upheld with unwavering commitment and accountability. He said the faith reposed in AIIMS is the result of decades of relentless efforts by stalwarts of the medical fraternity who elevated standards of care and built AIIMS into a globally respected authority in medical science and research.
Prof. Sharma congratulated outgoing Director Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Gupta for creating a well-equipped and beautiful campus and said the foundation is now firmly set for faculty to deliver on the core pillars of research, education, and patient care, taking AIIMS Jammu to greater heights.
He stressed that medical research is the bedrock of the AIIMS ecosystem, urging the faculty to intensify collaborative research and clinical trials to solve complex medical problems. He said the institute must work in mission mode to develop centres of excellence backed by world-class research so that patients benefit directly.
Calling upon the faculty to define clear goals and objectives, he said single-minded dedication builds institutional character, inspiring staff to work with energy and purpose. He also reminded faculty that their position at a premier institute carries a heightened responsibility to uphold patient confidence with integrity, humility, and compassion.
Highlighting personal well-being, Prof. Sharma encouraged a healthy work–life balance, participation in sports, and nurturing social connections, noting that de-stressing enhances productivity.
Concluding his address, he reminded the faculty that they wear a badge of honour, and their conduct in public and private must reflect humility, discipline, dedication, and unwavering focus, befitting the stature and legacy of AIIMS Jammu.
