BANDIPORA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, today inspected the upcoming waste management facility of Vendor at Watrina, aimed at strengthening scientific waste management, segregation and disposal mechanisms in the district.
During the inspection, the DC reviewed the proposed arrangements at various sites, including the waste segregation facility and the designated waste dumping and storage site. She also inspected the proposed operational yard for managing project activities, GPS-enabled vehicles, vehicle parking and related operational arrangements.
The DC directed the establishment of dedicated spaces for an e-waste collection centre, a Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR) Centre, and an office to ensure efficient functioning of the facility. She also instructed the Vendor to install proper signboards for public awareness and identification of designated sites, besides ensuring the construction of a shed for the safe storage of collected waste.
Emphasising the need for a robust supply chain, the DC stressed that effective waste management requires separate collection of different waste categories and their timely transportation to designated facilities through the concerned companies.
She directed the concerned officers to schedule a meeting with the companies involved to streamline collection, transportation and processing arrangements and ensure seamless coordination.
The upcoming facility is expected to strengthen waste management operations in Bandipora and contribute towards a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
