JAMMU: Controller Legal Metrology Department (LMD), Rajinder Singh Tara convened a comprehensive review meeting with a team of officers led by the State-Level Coordinator (SLC), along with heads of oil depots, LPG plants and representatives of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPC), and Hindustan Petroleum (HP) to assess initiatives undertaken by oil marketing companies in the interest of consumers.

During the meeting, the State-Level Coordinator presented detailed feedback on the existing infrastructure and supply chain mechanisms for oil and LPG delivery. The discussions focused on evaluating system efficiency, identifying operational gaps, and formulating strategies for improvement. The Controller directed oil marketing companies to submit concrete action plans aimed at addressing challenges and bridging infrastructure and service gaps through systematic expansion and modernization.

Emphasizing the need to prevent pilferage during transportation and delivery, the Controller instructed the adoption of stringent monitoring and accountability measures. Issues raised by stakeholders, including distributors and dealers, were also reviewed, with an emphasis on strengthening the network to ensure smooth operations and build trust.

The Controller further highlighted the importance of swift and effective grievance redressal, urging oil marketing companies to establish a more responsive complaint-handling mechanism for both dealers and consumers. He also called for an immediate review of existing infrastructure and the initiation of modernization efforts wherever required.

The State-Level Coordinator assured the Controller of regular, real-time monitoring of oil and LPG delivery systems to reinforce accountability and improve service quality. Concluding the meeting, Rajinder Singh Tara reaffirmed: "The Legal Metrology Department remains committed to safeguarding consumer rights and will continue to work closely with oil marketing companies to ensure transparency, efficiency and consumer satisfaction."
