Anti-drug IEC campaign held at multiple venues across district Ramban

RAMBAN: As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the District Administration Ramban successfully organised a series of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) programmes today across various panchayats, urban areas and educational institutions across the district.

The awareness campaigns were held at Panchayat HQ Gund Adalkote-B (Banihal Block), Panchayat HQ Bheri Neghal (Ramban Block), Panchayat HQ Neel-A (Ramsoo Block) and Panchayat HQ Pinglola (Ukhral Block). The programmes also covered educational institutions including Government Polytechnic College Chanderkote and Government Higher Secondary School Dalwah along with the Urban Local Body venue at Batote.

These programmes aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse among youth and the community. The EO MC Ramban Sudarshan Jamwal; Tehsildar Batote Reejuta Mahajan and officers and representatives from the Health Department, Police Department, Education Department, Social Welfare Department, Excise Department, JKSRLM, Women SHGs, RDD & Revenue departments, along with local officials and resource persons, actively participated in the events at designated places.

An ant-drug abuse IEC campaign was also held at Government Polytechnic Chanderkote. Principal Vivek Mahajan inaugurated the event, aimed at sensitizing youth about the harmful effects of drugs. The Officers from various departments, along with resource persons, highlighted medical, legal and social consequences of substance abuse. Students delivered motivational speeches and the programme concluded with a collective pledge to build a drug-free society.

The sessions included expert talks, interactive discussions and community engagement activities to sensitise participants about preventive measures and the importance of a drug-free society.

The District Administration appreciated the efforts of event coordinators, resource persons and participating departments for their collaboration in making the awareness drive successful.
