JU celebrates World Bicycle Day

JAMMU: The Office of the Programme Coordinator, NSS commemorates ‘World Bicycle Day'in the University of Jammu on 3rd June, 2023.
The event was aimed to popularize and adopt the use of cycling as a solution to avert global warming and as a norm for healthier lifestyle while celebrating and cherishing the noble ideas that inspired freedom struggle.
In this regard a cycle rally was organised in the University of Jammu in which more than 80 NSS volunteers participate. The cycles for the said programme were sponsored by the Chairman, Smart city Project, Jammu.
The entire event was conducted under the chairmanship of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof Umesh Rai.
Dr. Hema Gandotra, Programme Co-ordinator flagged off the rally along with the Programme Officers Dr Meghna Dhar and Dr. Mandeep Singh. Earlier Dr. Hema Gandotra congratulated the volunteers for their mass participation and for becoming the ambassadors on this day to carry forward the mission behind the celebration of this day.
She further motivated the volunteers to adopt the healthier lifestyle which will not only benefit them but will also bring in the change in the environment they are living in.
She highlighted the importance of celebrating the World Bicycle Day and focussed on how the ideological orientation of the youth gets inspired by the commemoration of such days.
The event was managed by the Programme Officers of the campus Dr Meghna Dhar and Dr. Mandeep Singh and was co-ordinated by the senior NSS volunteers Ketan Kumar, Manvi Sharma, Anuj Sharma, Rishi Sharma, Toiba Fatima and others.
The entire event was conducted with the coordination of the Office of the NSS Programme Co-ordinator, University of Jammu.
