JU organises Talk on The G20 Meeting in Kashmir and India's Strategic Advantage

JAMMU: The Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS), University of Jammu has organized a talk on "G-20 Meeting in Kashmir" in the seminar hall of the DSRS.
The talk was delivered by faculty members of the DSRS, Dr. Ganesh Malhotra and Dr. Ranjan Sharma, to the Research Scholars and the students of master's programme in the University of Jammu.
Dr. Ganesh Malhotra initiated the talk on India's hosting of the G-20 meeting in Srinagar and its strategic importance particularly for Tourism Working Group (TWG) in Kashmir.
India's this meeting holds importance in light of neutralizing Pakistan's propaganda against India over the Kashmir issue at the regional and international platforms to distract the international community from the key issue, i.e., Pakistan sponsored terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Out of 20 countries, 17 countries have sent their delegates who participated in all the sessions of the G20 TWG meetings. Participation with such great enthusiasm was a great embarrassment for Pakistan and its strategic ally China who continuously relay full-fledged propaganda against India and tries hard to undercut India's growing influence in the Indo-Pacific and the global arena.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir welcomed the G20 delegates with full enthusiasm with their cultural numbers. The situation in J&K remained peaceful despite the threats by Pakistani terrorist organisations.
Thereafter, in the second session, Dr. Ranjan Sharma assumed the charge of presenting India's position from India's growing influence at the regional and multilateral forums. His talk emphasised more on the relevance of India's presidential takeover of G20 and how India can use this platform to address relay its viewpoint on national, regional and global interests on the basis of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
According to Dr. Ranjan, the platform of G20 can assist India to reclaim its extra-regional role in the West and South East Asia to consolidate its position in the Indo-Pacific region.
He underlined the importance of global institutions and multilateral inter-governmental organisations and how India can modify its position to fine tune its approach to influence the Afro-Asian and Indian Ocean Rims smaller littoral states.
Coming back to the G20 meeting, he also highlighted the benefits of conducting meet in Srinagar which may strengthen India's position on Kashmir and the international community might endorse India's view henceforth.
The deliberations were followed by question-answer session. In the end, Director DSRS, Prof. Virender Koundal gave his concluding remarks on the topic and underline India rising status might be complimented by this meeting.
This program was also attended by the Department faculty Dr. Mohammad Monir Alam, Dr. Suneel Kumar, Dr. Surinder Mohan, research scholars and PG students of the department.
