Babila Rakwal reviews Civil Defence preparedness in Reasi

REASI: Commissioner Secretary, Cooperative Department, Babila Rakwal, who has been designated as the mentor for Reasi district, chaired a high level meeting to review the district's civil defence preparedness.

Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, presented a comprehensive overview of the civil defence plan and ongoing measures to ensure public safety. She informed that a dedicated control room has been established to manage emergencies and provide assistance to the citizens.

Commissioner Secretary conducted a detailed review of the preparedness of key departments. The Health Department shared its plan to ensure 24/7 ambulance services, adequate hospital bed capacity and uninterrupted functioning of health facilities during emergencies.

The Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department assured that systems are in place to restore electricity and water supply promptly after blackouts. The PHE Department further confirmed arrangements for alternative water sources as a contingency.

The Public Works Department (PWD) reported that critical infrastructure has been identified and that swift response mechanisms including establishment of temporary structures such as bridges, are in place in case of any damage to roads or essential assets.

The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department assured that adequate stocks of food grains and fuel are being maintained to meet potential emergency demands.

The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) informed that sufficient vehicles and drivers have been designated to ensure safe and efficient evacuation or public transport if needed.

Deputy Commissioner Reasi also highlighted that all vital infrastructure has been mapped and secured and multiple safe houses have been identified across the district to shelter affected individuals during emergencies.

A detailed review of the district's security preparedness was conducted.

Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, along with SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh, briefed Commissioner Secretary Rakwal on the current security scenario and the coordinated steps being taken to safeguard the public.

Reaffirming administration's commitment, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that all departments are working in close coordination to ensure uninterrupted essential services and that a robust civil defence plan is firmly in place for the safety and welfare of residents.

The meeting was attended by SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, ADDC Sukhdev Singh, ADC Rakesh Kumar, Chief Medical Officer, XEN PDD, XEN PHE, Assistant Director Food, Army officials, and other senior officers.
