Two Week Stationery Collection Drive commences at Kathua Campus JU

KATHUA: To honour the deity of learning i.e., Goddess Saraswati on the eve of Basant Panchami, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu has taken an initiative by launching a two-week Stationery Collection Drive today for helping the underprivileged children of the adopted village Kathera.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector Kathua Campus, University of Jammu said a small gesture of donating stationery is a boon for underprivileged children to focus harder on their studies and added that the students of Kathua Campus should imbibe the valuable learning from organizing these types of charity events and help the indigent souls if the opportunity prevails.

She further added that such events are an important part of student life as it not only helps to create awareness about our social problems but also gives an opportunity to improve the management skills.

She further said that such an ambitious mission conveys a pious message which should be followed in letter and spirit.

Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Convener of the Stationery Collection Drive and In-charge Head, Computer Science, Kathua Campus said that the idea behind the campaign is to help the underprivileged children of village Kathera and also to promote the habit of charity among students of Kathua Campus as it is an integral part of learning along with academics.

He further said the faculty members along with students of Kathua Campus shall visit the village Kathera on February 10, 2023 for rendering the collected stationery to the underprivileged children.

Dr. Vivek Sharma (Academic Coordinator), Amit Sharma (Programme Officer, NSS), Dr. Pankaj Khajuria (Assistant Registrar), Dr. Sunny Sharma, Ritika Goyal, Dr. Zahin Ansari and other faculty members of the Campus were also present.
