Child prodigy Onkar Singh Batra honoured

JAMMU: Chief Commissioner Income Tax, Amritsar, Jahanzeb Akhtar on Wednesday honoured child prodigy Onkar Singh Batra in an event organized here at Aaykar Bhawan, Jammu.

Pertinently, Onkar Singh Batra of Jammu has been awarded with the National Bal Shakti Award by the President of India for creating social web based platform during COVID pandemic period. He is also creator of India's first open-source satellite ‘InQube' using Nano technology.

Batra also became the youngest Webmaster in the world when he launched his first website at the age of seven, earning him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. He also set a record for being the youngest theoretical author at the age of 12 for his book ‘When The Time Stops'.

He is also a student ambassador at Jet Aerospace Aviation Research Center, Senior Director for India at Swiss Space Tourism and also the goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces Council - Southeast Asia.

Speaking at the felicitation event, Jahanzeb Akhtar, the Chief Commissioner Income Tax, Amritsar, said that she was delighted to meet such an inspiring young boy who has made such a commendable contribution in the fields of science and technology.

She expressed hope that the achievements of Onkar Batra will encourage children from around the globe to excel in their fields of interest and nurturing talent and promoting excellence is a universal quest worthy of pursuit.

While appreciating him, Jahanzeb Akhtar emphasized that every child on this planet is special in his own way and the right guidance and the right environment helps them recognize their inner abilities.

Besides other officers, the function was attended by the family members of Master Onkar Singh Batra and Baljeet Kaur, Commissioner of Income Tax.
