DC chairs District Level Committee to review ULB Building Permission cases

POONCH: A District Level Committee meeting was convened today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal, to comprehensively review building permission cases of the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

The meeting held detailed deliberations on key issues related to urban development, with discussions focusing on amendments to existing policies, updates to building bye-laws, and strategies to address emerging urban challenges. Topics such as zoning regulations, sustainability measures, environmental considerations, integration of modern technologies, and public health safeguards were also covered.

During the session, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal sought inputs from all concerned departments and emphasized the need for factual and practical commentary regarding the urban development scenario of Poonch district. He underscored the necessity of ensuring a transparent, efficient, and timely process for building permissions.

Highlighting the significance of collaborative urban planning, the Deputy Commissioner called for a coordinated approach that balances infrastructural growth with safety, sustainability, and strict regulatory compliance. He also stressed the importance of updating building bye-laws to suit the evolving needs of urban expansion.

The meeting was attended by the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Poonch, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti, JPDCL, and PWD (R&B), Assistant Town Planner Rajouri-Poonch, CEO Municipal Council Poonch, and EO Municipal Committee Surankote.
