ANANTNAG: To mark the 5th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Chief Education Office Anantnag today organised a distribution camp of aids and appliances for specially-abled children & awareness programme under the Inclusive Education component of Samagra Shiksha, J&K.
The event was held at Government Higher Secondary School (Boys), Bijbehara, and witnessed participation from students, teachers, officials, children from educational zones Bijbehara & Sirigufwara, besides civil society members.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Anantnag highlighted the significance of the NEP 2020 in ensuring equitable and inclusive education for all learners, especially children with special needs. He stated that the policy is being implemented in letter and spirit across all schools in the district to promote holistic development and equal opportunities for students from all backgrounds.
"NEP 2020 lays strong emphasis on inclusive and accessible education, and we are committed to reaching every child, including the specially-abled, with quality learning facilities," CEO said.
District Education Planning Officer (DEPO) Anantnag, in his address, elaborated on the key provisions of NEP and the steps taken for its effective implementation in the district. He emphasized the transformative nature of the policy and its potential to reshape the education landscape of Jammu & Kashmir.
Likewise Padma Shree Javaid Tak spoke about the problems of the specially-abled and the provisions in NEP for them.
The event concluded with the distribution of mobility aids, learning tools, and assistive devices among 61 Children including Wheelchairs, Crutches, Hearing Aids, Tricycles, Braille Kits, Smart Phones etc. to several specially-abled children, enabling them to better participate in academic and co-curricular activities.
