SHOPIAN: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian today organized an awareness programme on 'Legal Services Unit for Mental Illness and Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (LSUM) at Government Higher Secondary School, Kanjiullar.
The awareness programme was held under the directions of Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary Chairman DLSA Shopian.
The event aimed to spread awareness regarding the legal rights, entitlements, and support mechanisms available to individuals living with mental illness and intellectual disabilities.
Deputy LADC, Shahnawaz Raina, Assistant LADCs, Meenu Jan, Bisma Rafiq and Aamir Ayoub were the speakers at the programme. They delivered insightful talks focusing on the importance of safeguarding the legal rights of persons with mental and intellectual challenges.
Raina, in his address, stressed upon the legal rights available to the specially-abled persons.
Meenu Jan & Bisma Rafiq elaborated on the various legal aid schemes under Mental Health Act. and various benefits & protections available to specially-abled persons under NALSA scheme.
The programme was attended by teachers, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), and students, who actively participated in the session. |
