JAMMU: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Jammu East Yudhvir Sethi and Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Dr. Devansh Yadav today inaugurated a newly constructed open shed on the rooftop of the historic Sri Ram Mandir located at Purani Mandi.
The open shed constructed at a cost of Rs. 44.51 lakh is a significant move to enhance facilities for devotees and yatris. The facility has been developed as part of a comprehensive infrastructure initiative titled "Construction of Bathing cum Toilet Blocks including Construction of Open Shed at Roof Top", funded under the SANJY (Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra) Project. The facility has been designed to provide shelter and basic amenities to Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims.
Appreciating the JMC's commitment to create enhanced civic infrastructure around religious and heritage locations, Yudhvir Sethi said that such facilities are crucial to support Jammu's role as a key base station for the Yatra and reaffirmed the government's dedication to pilgrims' welfare.
Emphasizing the importance of such infrastructure in order to meet out the needs of yatris arriving from different parts of the country, the JMC Commissioner Dr. Yadav said the open shed will offer a dignified, clean, and sheltered resting space for devotees staying at Sri Ram Mandir en-route to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine.
To mark the occasion, Prasad was distributed among the devotees staying at the temple premises by the dignitaries, symbolizing communal harmony, service and hospitality extended to the visiting yatris.
Mahant Shri Rameshwar Dass Ji Maharaj, the spiritual head of Sri Ram Mandir, extended his heartfelt gratitude to both dignitaries for their presence and support. He remarked that the open shed was a much-needed addition, especially beneficial during high footfall periods such as Ram Navami, Diwali, and the Amarnath Yatra.
The inauguration ceremony saw enthusiastic participation from temple Committee members, JMC officials and citizens from surrounding areas. The new structure is expected to significantly improve accommodation and convenience for visiting pilgrims.
This initiative is yet another step by the Jammu Municipal Corporation toward inclusive urban development, focusing on cultural, spiritual, and public welfare infrastructure that directly benefits the people.
Among others, Executive Engineer Div-I Rajesh Kumar, large number of locals and yatries were present on the occasion.
