Director RDD reviews implementation of CSSs in Kathua District

Stresses on close monitoring of key indicators to achieve set targets

KATHUA: Director Rural Development Jammu Shahnaz Akhter today took comprehensive review of the implementation of the Centrally sponsored schemes in Kathua district besides assessing overall functioning of the Department.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent Engineer (REW) Rajesh Agastam, Joint Director Adm Avleen Kour Bali, Assistant Development Commissioner Kathua, Akhil Sadotra, Deputy Director Planning, Ravinder Singh, District Panchayat Officer Kathua, Block Development Officers and officers from REW Wing.

Assistant Commissioner Development Kathua gave a detailed presentation on performance indicators under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), SBM (G) and progress achieved in implementation of projects under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) and Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). He apprised that District has achieved 100% PD target in the last financial year and as on date out of set target of 6 lakh PD generation for the current year, the district has already achieved one lakh so far. Further, the district has also achieved 93% & 96% completion under PMAY-G and Area Officer App target.

While taking a threadbare review of the performance of the blocks in achieving the targets under various Centrally sponsored schemes, Director Rural Development Department emphasized the need for close monitoring of key performance indicators, particularly under MGNREGA and PMAY-G to ensure benefits envisaged under theses Centrally sponsored schemes reach all the eligible beneficiaries. She also exhorted the need to adhere to the fixed times lines for the implementation of developmental projects with quality monitoring and optimal utilisation of funds

Ms Akhter further stressed on importance of teamwork, transparency, accountability and collaborative efforts in achieving the goals of rural development and people centric governance.

She also underscored that importance of timely redressal of public grievances and adopting a proactive approach in addressing rural challenges and improving service delivery at the grass root level.
