DC Rajouri launches Vibrant Village Programme 2.0

Pays Tributes to Brigadier Usman- The Lion of Nowshera

NOWSHERA: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today launched the Vibrant Village Programme 2.0 and led the district in celebrating the 113th birth anniversary of Brigadier Mohammad Usman popularly known as "The Lion of Nowshera."

The event was organized at the historic Jhangar village near the Line of Control in Nowshera Subdivision.

The event was organized by the District Administration Rajouri in collaboration with the Indian Army, attracting enthusiastic participation from officers, students, locals and representatives of different departments.

The commemoration began with a grand welcome ceremony followed by paying of floral tributes at the memorial of Brigadier Usman. A documentary showcasing the life and valour of Brigadier Mohammad Usman was screened, highlighting his supreme sacrifice in the 1947-48 Indo-Pak war.

To honour the legacy of service and patriotism, school students spoke on the life and contribution of Brigadier Usman and presented patriotic songs. The Deputy Commissioner felicitated the participating students for their efforts and patriotic spirit.

The government departments had set up awareness stalls at the venue to inform the public about different schemes and initiatives under the Vibrant Village Programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC underscored the significance of the Vibrant Village Programme in transforming the lives of people residing in remote and border areas. He reiterated the commitment of the administration to bridge critical gaps in infrastructure and services delivery.

"The supreme sacrifice of Brigadier Mohammad Usman is an eternal source of inspiration for all of us," said the DC. "I extend heartfelt congratulations to his family, the institution he served and the residents of his native place who continue to uphold his legacy with pride," he added.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting with district officers, instructing them to identify gaps and improve basic facilities, including drinking water, road connectivity, reading rooms, play zones, and dispensary services in the border villages.

Refreshments were served to all participants as the event concluded on a note of national pride and developmental resolve.

Among the dignitaries present were SSP Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar, ADC Nowshera, CO Saurav Panday, SE Tilak Raj, CPO Maqsood Ahmed, ACD Auqil Naveed, DSWO Abdul Raheem, Tehsildar Nowshera, BDO Nowshera and other district and sectoral officers.
