DC Baramulla chairs 18th district level NCORD/ NMBA meeting, reviews anti-drug measures

BARAMULLA: In a continued effort to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired the 18th District Level Narco Coordination cum Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NCORD/ NMBA) meeting at the meeting hall, DC office Baramulla.

The meeting was convened to assess the status of anti-drug measures, inter-departmental coordination, and progress under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan across the district.

Chairing the session, DC emphasized a multi-pronged approach involving strict enforcement, mass awareness, and rehabilitation support to effectively tackle the drug menace. He reviewed progress on the action plan devised in previous meetings, functioning of Drug De-Addiction Centers, and the engagement of youth through education and sports.

DC directed enforcement agencies to intensify crackdown on peddlers and hotspots, while urging education institutions and civil society to play a proactive role in spreading awareness and guiding vulnerable youth away from addiction.

SSP Baramulla briefed the house on the recent seizures, arrests, and surveillance operations carried out under NDPS Act. Health and Social Welfare departments were instructed to ensure adequate counselling and rehabilitation services for recovering addicts.

Special attention was laid on coordination between departments under NCORD and strengthening of Block and Panchayat-level NCORD units. The meeting concluded with a renewed resolve to make Baramulla a drug-free district through consistent and united efforts.

SSP Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh; ADC Baramulla, Syed Altaf Hussain Musvi; ADC Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina; CMO, CEO, Tehsildars, Principals, and representatives from Excise, Education, Health, Social Welfare, and Drug Control departments were present.
