Mega awareness programme held at Arin to empower artisans, weavers

BANDIPORA: Handicrafts & Handloom department Bandipora on Monday organized a mega awareness programme and seminar at the BDO office Arin, aimed at educating and empowering local artisans and weavers through government-backed initiatives and support schemes.
The event was attended by DDC Member Arin, Ghulam Mohiuddin; Assistant Director Handicrafts & Handloom Bandipora, Sameer Ahmad Jan, besides a large number of local artisans and weavers ensured their participation in the event.
On the occasion, DDC Arin lauded the efforts of the department for organizing such outreach programmes, terming them ‘crucial for enhancing the livelihoods of artisans and weavers at the grassroots level.'
During the programme, departmental officials provided detailed presentations and interactive sessions on various schemes and services being offered by the government. These included skill development training, credit support under Mudra and PMEGP, incentives for participation in exhibitions and fairs, and avenues for marketing through e-commerce platforms.
Special focus was laid on Geographical Indication (GI) tagging, product packaging, and branding to help artisans improve the quality and market appeal of their products. Participants were encouraged to register under the departmental schemes to avail the benefits of institutional support and capacity building.
Among others, HTO Bandipora, HTO Sumbal, AHTOs, Auditor INDUSCOS, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
