DC Poonch chairs forest clearance meeting for PWD road projects

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal today convened a key meeting with concerned officers to review the status of forest clearances for various road projects being executed by the Public Works Department (PWD) across the district.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner took stock of the physical and financial progress of ongoing road infrastructure projects. The primary focus was to expedite the forest clearance process, which is vital for the timely execution of critical road works, particularly in remote and hilly areas of the district.

Detailed discussions were held on pending proposals, existing bottlenecks, and strategies to accelerate the approval process in coordination with the concerned departments. Deputy Commissioner underlined the importance of prompt resolution of forest clearance issues to facilitate smooth and uninterrupted developmental activities aimed at improving road connectivity.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to maintain close liaison with the Forest Department and ensure the submission of all necessary documentation without delay. He further instructed for regular follow-ups to monitor the progress of each individual project.

The meeting was attended by SE PWD (R&B), DFO, XENs of PWD Poonch, Surankote and Mendhar.
