Army empowers border youth through pre-recruitment training drive

RAJOURI: In a major outreach effort, the Indian Army's Romeo Force has launched a comprehensive pre-recruitment training programme across twin border districts Poonch, Rajouri as well as Reasi district, targeting youth from remote and underserved areas, with special focus on the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities.
Conducted under the Army's Civic Action and Outreach Programme, the initiative is designed to prepare aspiring candidates for enrolment under the Agnipath Scheme and Territorial Army with over 1,200 youth have enrolled so far for these trainings.
The training includes physical conditioning, written test preparation, general knowledge, reasoning, communication skills, and personality development, conducted at more than 30 locations with full administrative support including transport and meals.
Local communities have welcomed the initiative, noting a visible rise in discipline, confidence, and motivation among the youth.
Elders described the effort as "life-changing mentorship," while many young trainees now proudly express dreams of wearing the uniform and serving the nation.
This initiative underscores the Indian Army's continued commitment to youth empowerment, national integration, and strengthening civil-military relations in the border belt.
