ICC Jammu’s 10K & 5K Run promotes Peace, Innovation

JAMMU: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Jammu, under the leadership of its Chairman Rahul Sahai, successfully conducted the ICC Jammu 10K & 5K Run themed "Run for Peace & Innovation" at Jammu University Sports Complex.

The run saw enthusiastic participation from over 400 runners, including students, professional athletes, entrepreneurs and citizens from Jammu, Punjab, Bengaluru, and the USA.

The event was flagged off by Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma and Maj Gen Mukesh Bhanwala, GOC 26 INF DIV. Other dignitaries present included Prof. Omesh Rai (Vice Chancellor, Jammu University), Anuradha Gupta (Director General Youth Services, J&K), Vikas Gupta (Director Tourism, Jammu), Ajaz Qaiser (Joint Director Tourism), Kiran Radurappa (CEO Posspole, Bengaluru), Daud Iqbal Baba (Director Sports, Jammu University) and Debmalya Banerjee (Regional Director, ICC Northern Region).

Rahul Sahai emphasized, "This run symbolizes Jammu's stride towards innovation and youth empowerment." Sports Minister Satish Sharma lauded the initiative and highlighted the Government's commitment towards promoting youth driven innovation, physical fitness and peace-building activities.

In the 10K run under the Under-18 Boys category, Sumant Sudan secured first place with a time of 1:04:26, followed by Aditya Khajuria at 1:23:36.

In the 18-35 Male group, Raghav Sharma won in 41:03, closely followed by Deepak Sharma (41:18) and Pankaj Sharma (42:34).

Rimpi Devi topped the female 18-35 category in 1:04:42, with Sonia Sharma (1:07:02) and Gurvinder Kour (1:21:23) placing second and third.

The 36-45 Male winners were Ram Rakha Sangra (42:48), Abhishake Gupta (45:14) and Kuldeep Kumar (46:53). Kirti led the female group at 57:07, followed by Shreeja Slathia (1:05:06) and Seema Sharma (1:10:56).

In the 46-55 Male category, Amit Kumar won with 43:15, followed by Vijay Sharma (44:28) and Hemanshu Parkash (48:38). Female winners were Manminder Kaur (48:34), Tina Sahi (59:47) and Seema Kharyal (1:12:29).

Among seniors 56 & above, Sham Suri led the men's category in 52:14, followed by Satbir Singh (52:24) and Ajay Gandotra (52:55). Rekha Katoch topped females in 1:11:19, with Asha Chandan (1:34:18) and Bhawna Kaul (1:52:12) completing the podium.

In the 5K race, Under-18 Boys winner was Aryan Sharma (23:46), with Rahil Manhas (25:07) and Himanshu Kumar (28:21) next. Under-18 Girls were led by Shabu Devi (28:26), followed by Shabnum Bano (32:27) and Shivali Devi (36:00).

The 18-35 Male 5K winner was Rajat Sanmotra (22:00), followed by Bharat Kumar (22:01) and Eklove Sharma (23:28). Female winners were Tanisha Bandral (44:39), Monika Sharma (49:24), and Aditi Sharma (50:48).

In the 36-45 group, Abhishek Sharma (25:44) led the men, followed by Amit Bamba and Ashish Sharma. Dr. Kuljit Kour (41:37) led females, with Shweta Mittal (44:05) and Supriya Arora (49:02) following.

The 46-55 Male category was topped by Krishna Moorthi (28:59), followed by Jatinder Singh. Female winners were Bhavna Salathia (37:51), Rashi Rakwal and Meenakshi Anand.

For seniors 56 & above, Dr. Sanjeev Mohan (33:25) won the men's section, followed by Anand Kumara and Capt. Shamsher Singh. Anita Verma topped women with 48:04.

Kiran Radurappa from Bengaluru was specially recognized for mentoring youth and entrepreneurs, pledging continued support for Jammu's innovation ecosystem.

Debmalya Banerjee praised ICC's century-long legacy and its growing impact in Jammu & Kashmir. The run concluded with a cultural program and prize distribution, celebrating youth, fitness, peace and innovation.

Meanwhile, athletes from Mata Vaishno Devi Runners Group (MVRG) delivered outstanding performances at the ICC 10K & 5K Marathon. Competing across various age categories, MVRG runners secured multiple podium finishes, showcasing their dedication, fitness, and team spirit.
