DC Ramban reviews key departments; stresses grievance redressal, youth engagement and skill promotion

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the performance of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Youth Services & Sports (YSS), District Employment & Counselling Centre, J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Labour, Handicrafts & Handlooms departments.
The meeting focused on strengthening service delivery, addressing public grievances, and enhancing livelihood opportunities for the youth of the district.
During the review, the Deputy Commissioner evaluated the FCS&CA Department's management of ration card distribution and essential commodity supply chains. He instructed officers to prioritize grassroots grievance redressal, ensure timely ration delivery, and maintain transparency in distribution. Regular monitoring of fair price shops and swift resolution of complaints were also emphasized.
Assessing JKEDI's initiatives, the DC called for proactive outreach to inform unemployed youth about entrepreneurship schemes and skill development programs. He directed the institute to collaborate closely with Panchayati Raj Institutions, ensuring wider coverage and support for aspiring entrepreneurs.
The Employment & Counselling Centre reported on self-employment schemes, including "Mumkin" and the new "Mission Yuva," under which 385 applications have been received. The DC urged to expedite the processing of applications and regular organization of awareness drives, job fairs, and capacity-building workshops.
Highlighting the importance of sports, the DC directed the YSS Department to intensify sports tournaments, adventure activities, and fitness programs. He advised launching "Talent Hunt" drives at Panchayat and Block levels to identify and nurture young athletes.
For the Handicrafts & Handlooms Department, the DC stressed reviving traditional crafts, providing skill training, and connecting artisans with marketing platforms. He emphasized preserving local crafts and supporting artisans through government schemes and innovation.
The meeting was attended by the AD FCS&CA Niyamatullah Sheikh, DYSSO Jagdesh Raj Sharma, and other concerned officers.
