MP Jugal Kishore chairs DISHA meeting at Samba
Pushes for timeline execution of dev projects, prioritizing saturation of welfare schemes

SAMBA: Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma today reviewed the implementation and progress of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) in Samba district at a meeting of District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) held here in the Conference Hall, District Administrative Complex, Nandani Hills.
The meeting was attended by DDC Chairperson Keshav Dutt Sharma, MLA Ramgarh Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Vijaypur Chander Prakash Ganga, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, nominated DISHA Committee members and senior district and sectoral officers representing key developmental departments.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner gave an exhaustive PowerPoint presentation outlining the physical and financial progress made under the flagship schemes and major developmental initiatives undertaken across the district.
MP Jugal Kishore reviewed progress of key infrastructural works including the Samba to Sumb and Mansar Mod to Mansar Roads. The MP emphasized that the installation of permanent signboards on PMGSY and rural roads, as well as the laying of the foundation stone for the Samba Flyover must be executed on priority to enhance transparency, civic awareness and public accountability.
The Committee headed by the MP, also deliberated on the repair of the road opposite Chichi Mata Mandir and the beautification and development of Jakh Pond, where a footpath, safety grill and drawing wall have been constructed to enhance public convenience and security.
Calling for a strict check on illegal mining activities in the district, the MP directed the District Mining Officer to intensify field-level monitoring and ensure robust enforcement measures to curb unregulated and environmentally harmful mining practices.
MP Jugal Kishore also lauded the commendable efforts of Samba Police in their ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, terming it a significant and necessary stride toward building a drug-free and secure society.
While reviewing the performance of Agriculture and allied departments, the MP underscored the importance of targeted implementation of schemes and subsidies, directing to ensure that only genuine and eligible beneficiaries avail the benefits. He instructed the department to conduct stringent verification before the disbursement of any assistance.
Reiterating the Government of India's development vision, Jugal Kishore Sharma emphasized the need for interdepartmental synergy and coordination with public representatives to eliminate bottlenecks and accelerate the pace of development, particularly in border and rural areas. He further directed concerned officers to fast-track works under PM Awas Yojana 2.0 and strategic road development, with strict adherence to stipulated timelines.
Responding to various concerns raised by elected representatives, the MP sought a comprehensive Action Taken Report (ATR), particularly on pending issues related to irregular water supply and service delivery gaps.
He reiterated that transparency, efficiency and citizen-centric governance are the guiding principles of the present dispensation and called for leveraging modern digital tools to ensure universal coverage and saturation of government welfare schemes.
The meeting concluded with the Deputy Commissioner presenting the Action Taken Report on the key issues flagged during the previous DISHA meeting, thereby reaffirming the district administration's commitment to accountable, responsive and time-bound governance.
